Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Macerated strawberries with peppercorn and an earthy forest floor aroma. Some boysenberry pop that persists through the electric palate. Some spicebox and chili-dipped watermelon hints at the liveliness with darker plum fruits coming on towards the end to make for a long and rich finish.
Production Notes
489 cases produced.
Fermented in small, open-top stainless steel tanks with gentle, twice-daily punchdowns over a period of two weeks.
Winemaker Notes
2019 had such a long and drawn out harvest season which gave the notoriously fickle Zinfandel time to even out and ripen beautifully. Zinfandel can be tricky with its large clusters - some berries will get ripe and be perfect early on while other berries in the cluster will still need more time. Zinfandel, maybe more than most varieties, forces winemakers to pick at a time when variability within the cluster is still higher than most other varieties. What I love about that is you get both dark and ripe characteristics as well as light and vibrant qualities in every cluster. This makes for a lively and interesting wine that pairs with more things than it doesn't! ~ Winemaker Ryan Prichard
Food Pairing
Rack of lamb and some duck fat roasted potatoes.
